From our high school geometry classes, we know that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Surprisingly, a wavy fence requires FEWER bricks than a straight one. Plus, it’s more stable.
The fact is, you can’t build a straight fence with “one brick” (or, as builders call it, half a brick). More precisely, you can, but a long fence will collapse from a slight push. Such fences are built with at least two bricks. And at short intervals, buttresses are added to a straight fence for stability.
A single-brick wavy fence, thanks to its arched folds, is essentially a combination of a fence and a buttress.
